URETHANE FOAMS

 

We stock this “soft” foam from 2” up to 12” thickness in 1 lb. and 2 lb. densities, and 30 ILD up to 100 ILD (see Foam Dictionary).  Urethane foam is used for beginning gymnasts and light tumbling, and in thicker versions in landing mats.

 

 

DENSITY – Lbs. per cubic foot. (Example: 1.7 lb. density foam mean 1 cubic foot of it weighs 1.7 lbs.)

 

ILD – INDENTION LOAD DEFLECTION is a measurement of foam firmness and is independent of foam density.  ILD is measured by indenting (compressing) a foam sample of 25% of it original height.  The amount of force in lbs. required is its ILD measurement.  The more force required, the firmer the foam.  Open-cell foam ILDs usually range from 10 ILD (super soft) to 100 ILD (very firm).

 

CROSS-LINK – A polyethylene foam with a smooth finish

 

OPEN CELL – A foam you can breathe through (like our  urethane foams)

 

CLOSED CELL – A foam you cannot breathe through (like our poly foams).

 

Nissenฎ mat and wall padding fabrics are tough!

 

Super tear-resistant PVC-coated shells with high UV, flame resistance and anti-bacterial formulations.

 

Our PVC-coated fabrics can take the most rugged indoor and outdoor wear.  All indoor mats and wall paddings meet all fire codes – including NFPA 701, CA Fire Marshall, and UL.  Many other vendors use 14 and 18 oz. laminated fabrics, which tend to peel after intended use.  Nissen fabrics are coated into one homogeneous layer of PVC and polyester – in either our 18 oz./sq. yd. deluxe or 22 oz./sq. yd. super deluxe weights.  Plus we offer many colors to match every need.

 

 

 

POLY FOAMS

 

Closed-cell, cross-link poly foam offers firm, lightweight, shock-absorption for the top recoil.  Often used for high-impact activities like advanced gymnastics and martial arts.  Our 2” thickness is excellent for heavier participants who tend to bottom-out.

 

 

BONDED FOAM

 

Our 6 lb. density bonded foam provides durability and safety for medium impact gymnastics, exercise and wall padding.  Good for semi-firm landings and stability, yet not as firm as our poly foams.

LAYERED LAMINATED FOAMS

 

Urethane foam laminated to poly foam provides a firm landing surface with a soft cushion underneath to prevent bottoming out.  We offer our layered foams in several thickness and layer combinations.
